The much-awaited National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 has set the path for a more engaging, inclusive and meaningful learning journey for all learners. We are delighted to present the first edition of Maths Tales and Trails, a thoughtfully curated series aligned with the guiding principles of both the NCF 2023 and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
One of the key recommendations of the NCF for the Preparatory Stage (NCFPS) is the use of the Experience–Language–Picture–Symbol (ELPS) approach for introducing mathematical concepts. This child-centric method ensures that learning moves from concrete experiences to abstract understanding. Maths Tales and Trails closely follows this pedagogical sequence, as highlighted in the NEP, ensuring that learners build concepts in a natural, joyful and developmentally appropriate manner.
Both NEP 2020 and NCF 2023 emphasise the development of strong numeracy and problem-solving skills, fostering curiosity, joy and wonder in the learning process. Our series has been designed to reflect this vision, using stories, relatable contexts and hands-on activities to make maths enjoyable and relevant for young learners.
Furthermore, our approach integrates real-life applications, interdisciplinary learning and the 4Cs of 21st Century Skills—Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Communication and Collaboration. This ensures that learners are not only mastering mathematical concepts but also preparing for real-world challenges.
